Tales of dragonia: Chapter 1: Training and destiny revealed

NNGH!!! said Drake in his sleep as he was having another dream  of that attack of his family, in his dream he was standing in his family room looking around glancing at the sight of his dead parents and a ghastly looking black and red dragon approaching his younger self.
He couldn't move in his dream and all the while he was yelling at his younger self to get out of there but no sound came out of his mouth. Just as the black and red was about to land the killing blow, a bright light erupted from the child and the evil dragon screeched in pain.

As the bright light came to him drake suddenly shot up in bed and awoke looking around realising he was in bed at the fire temple, he gets out from out of his covers and sits on the edge of his bed with his head buried in his hands, wondering what happened that night, what was that strange light.  As he gets up he begins to stretch his body when he hears a bell ringing somewhere outside the temple. Realising that he slept in he says "oh crap I'm late for early morning training" He quickly gets on his training garb: a pair of white leggings with a hole for his tail with a black belt. He slips on a white training shirt with a red dragon symbol on the left side of his chest and quickly slips on his training shoes and his training robe and grabs his wooden training sword and rushes of to the Training  Hall

"Oh crap oh crap I am never going to here the end of this one" drake thought as he was running towards the training hall as he reached the hall and stepped inside he quickly closes the door and leans against it with a sigh of relief, but that sigh of relief is short-lived as he glances up and sees the look on the grandmaster's face. The grandmaster who was sporting a grayish white  beard with his hair tied up in a knot was sporting a look of  frustration yet a look of laughter. When drake saw this he froze and took a gulp, the grandmaster said in a deep voice " Your late bloodnight, what is your excuse this time!"

Drake gulps again: I'm sorry master I've been  having that dream again, where I see that black and red dragon is murdering my family.  The grandmaster closes his eyes all the while stroking his beard and thinks: I see he is still having that dream of that dreadful night. Then he looks up at drake and says: That is still no excuse why you slept in. We will discuss the meaning of this dream after your breakfast meditation, now for today's lesson you will start by learning where your opponent will strike where and when you least expect it. Get in the center of the ring. Drake lets out another sigh of relief and proceeds to center of the ring. He readies his sword but the master holds up his hand,  Drake confused as he wonders what is going on, the grand master says: So far you have been training in the way of the blade, for today lets pick up where you left off on your martial arts training and your elemental training.

Drake : "okay."

Grand master: First off what are the 6 forms of martial arts we do at this temple?

rake: Kung fu, karate, jujitsu, judo, muay thai kick boxing, and  weapons mastery master.

Grand master: Very good, so far you have excelled at Kung fu, karate, jujitsu, judo and Muay thai. However your weapon training needs a little bit tweaking. Your skills with a blade are at a level close to that of a master class. Your reflexes and reaction times are at a master class but your firing weapon skills needs work.  
Drake: I'm sorry master I guess that with my other training I have been only thinking of physical training has been on mind as of late.
Grand Master: That's all right, now how about your fire and light elemental training?
Drake: So far I have been able to incorporate my fire and light elements  into my fighting styles.
Also my elemental attacks have improved greatly as well.
Grandmaster: That really good, but how has your ability to fly  been going?
Drake: It's not really going well, no matter what, that night 20 years ago keeps interfering with my concentration , I can't seem to get past that in my mind. (drake punches the floor in frustration.)

Grand master: Hmm.... Seems we need to work getting past that moment in your mind.
But enough talk.... lets train NOW!!!!!
Drake stands at attention: Yes sir, grand master sir!!!!!!


2 hours later.....

Drake is panting and sweating after such a workout.

Grandmaster: Your have improved a truly tremendous amount the last time I saw you a month ago drake.

Drake speaking between breaths: Thank you grandmaster.

Then they hear a gong sounding off.
Grand master: Sounds like Breakfast is ready.
Drake and Grandmaster stomachs: GROWLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!

Grand master laughing: Sounds like we both need to eat to our hearts content.

Drake still breathing: Yeah I guess we do.

They both make their way to the dining hall where lady Alyssa was helping preparing the breakfast with the temple cooks. She sees drake and the grandmaster come in all worked up.

All the other monks see the grandmaster and immediately stand at attention and say "good morning Grandmaster."

Grandmaster with a hand raised: At ease.

The monks nod and return to their tables.
Alyssa: I take early morning training went well for you two?
Both Nodded as they sat down at a table amongst other monks who were waiting for breakfast.

Alyssa who ran away with the prince when he was just a child from Valeron's wrath and eventually made it to this temple where the warrior monks took her and drake in. While drake was doing all the martial arts training she took a job at the temple as a teacher who taught drake and all the other young students the basic things in life like: How to read, how to write, math and other basic subjects. She hasn't told drake that he was a royal prince, she wanted to tell him earlier but the grandmaster told her that might encourage him to run away way before he was ready.

Alyssa: Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes.
Drake: Thanks Lady Alyssa (as drake rests his head on the table).
Drake and the grandmaster sat at their table while they waited, until the grandmaster spoke.

Grandmaster: Drake, After your breakfast meditation you and I need to go to the sacred Hall.

Drake's head shot up and he looked at his master: The sacred hall, why do we need to go there?

Grandmaster: It is time to reveal why and what we have been training you for.

Drake: Okay grandmaster I will see you there.
Alyssa: Breakfast is served!!!!!


After breakfast drake goes to his meditation spot on a grove close to the temple and starts concentrating. As he is meditating he suddenly finds himself in the dream again only he is the only one that his moving. he discovers he's in his spiritual form.

Drake in spirit form: What could this mean?

Then he sees the white glow and notices something emanating from it. It looked like a dragon but it seemed to bright to tell, the dragon in the light turned to him and said: "It is time"

That's when drake snapped out of it and soon realised he was back in his physical body in the grove outside the temple. He then rubs his temples thinking, what did that dragon mean it is time.
That's when he realises he has to meet the grand master in the sacred hall so he gets up and then proceeds to the sacred hall.

As he enters he sees the grandmaster waiting for him.
Grandmaster: I'm glad to see you actually remembered to come.

Drake: Of course master. Now do you mind telling me why am I here?

The grandmaster turns a statue's head to the side and reveals a hidden stairwell.

Drake's eyes widen at the sight of this.

Grandmaster: Come with me.

As he and drake proceed down the stairwell, they come across a room with various weapons in it: bows, crossbows and some strange looking weapons that look like big sticks, but had a trigger mechanism underneath. But what really caught drakes eye was a katana sitting on a mantle in the far end of the room.

Drake: Grandmaster what is that sword on that mantle over there?

The grandmaster looks over and says: that my boy is the Eco Draconis. The dragon master  Blade. Made of the hardest steel, yet light enough and sharp enough to cut through anything.

Drake: It feels like it is calling to me.

Grandmaster: Then go ahead and take it.

Drake in utter disbelief says: WHAT!!!!!!!

Grandmaster: Drake do you know why you have light elemental powers?

Drake: I have been wondering about that my whole life.

Grandmaster: You see every 300 years the light dragons choose a single dragon from one of the five elements and grant that dragon the title of Dragon master. This blade has been the dragon master's weapon for almost three thousand years. Only a dragon who has the light element coursing through it can wield it. Now it is yours to hold. Now to unlock It's power when in battle you just announce the blade's name: Eco Draconis. Also for seeing things that aren't there you say: "Dragon master's blade, give me sight beyond sight.  But for now just unsheathed the blade from its scabbard and see how it feels in your hands.

Drake feeling nervous, gulps and then proceeds to the weapon, picks it up, unsheathes it and is immediately in awe by how graceful and powerful the weapon feels in his hands.

Drake: I feel its power coursing through me master, like I was meant for me!

The grandmaster smiles and slightly nods at drake.

All of a sudden bells and gongs started going off in the temple grounds, The grandmaster and Drake turn at the sound of this and then look at each other with worried looks on their faces.

Drake: Master what's happening?

The grandmaster with a concerned look on his face says: They found us.

Drake: Who?

Grandmaster: The shadow drakes. The shadow dragon lord's army.
